Happy Valentine's Day to me!

Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock, in Bittersweet. Kind of fitting for a Valentine's gift from my valentine who is halfway across the world, it seems. Well, and it's purty! And bright. Yay! Looks like I've been tagged in a meme. Six Weird Things About Me...THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the 6 weird things about you. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog. 1. I will eat, and enjoy, nearly any food raw. 2. I have a mole in my bellybutton. 3. I have to time my whistling or singing with my footsteps as rhythm. Sometimes this kind of limits my song selection. 4. I love car songs. You heard me, old songs about cars. Yes, they're silly, but I like them better than nearly any other bizarre genre of musi

Monkey Socks

I have had an absolutely crazy week. Staying out every night til past ten and then having to get up at 5:30 to go to work all over again is not my idea of a restful time, but I had a lot of fun. One thing that got lost in the shuffle was the Monkey Socks! From the front... And the bottoms. No, that isn't a trick of the light, they are totally two different colors. I guess that's what you get with handpainted yarn, and I'm not complaining. These were an amazingly fast knit. I'm already half through with a different sock, which I'll have to show you tomorrow. I have some new baby plants in my house: I got a packet of grow-your-own 4-leaf clover seeds as a gift, so I'm starting them out to see if I really get one. I have an uncanny ability to find them in the wild, but I'm guessing the seeds I've got won't be mutated. In any case, it will be a cute little pot of something else green. And what else is wonderful, my Christmas cactus is blooming: I l

Resolution Update

Well, one month into the new year, it's time to take a stab at reviewing my resolutions. 1. Take better care of my teeth. Progress: Well, I am using more Listerine. I guess that's good. 2. Knit from my stash (as much as I can, especially after all the yarn I got for Christmas). Progress: I have not bought any yarn so far! Yay! 3. Get some more exercise so I don't turn into a weenie. Progress: Um... yeah, not so much. Maybe next month. 4. Take my classes a little more seriously. Progress: Don't know yet! 5. Get a real job, after I graduate (scary!!). Progress: Working towards that... fingers crossed! 6. Save enough money so I can visit Collin in Spain. (I just put him on the plane!! I am scared and excited and sad all at the same time, but so happy for him.) Progress: Well, if the tax return is any indication, this might be easier than I thought. I am sad to relate the passing of a friend. On Wednesday, Kyle passed away after struggling with Cystic Fibrosis

February Already?!

After seeing so many fun and thoughtful poems across blogs today, I've finally found some time to add my own. This is in honor of The Second Annual Brigid in Cyberspace . Without further ado, here is one of my favorite E. E. Cummings poems. I like the duality of meaning. she being Brand -new;and you know consequently a little stiff i was careful of her and(having thoroughly oiled the universal joint tested my gas felt of her radiator made sure her springs were O.
